Rinkle Kumari Case – By Veengas

…. On 24th February 2012, a teenage Hindu girl named Rinkle was kidnapped from her home by Naveed Shah and his gunmen allies from Mirpur Mathelo.

She was allegedly taken to Bharchoondi Shareef immediately after kidnapping by the involvement of PPP MNA Mian Abdul Haq (alias Mian Mitho) for harassment, forcible conversion of religion and marriage.

Next day on 25th Feb: 2012, a case was filed and initial hearing was held in civil court Ghotki for the statement by the kidnapped girl Rinkle.

In the court room the kidnapped girl Rinkle, told while crying about threats and harassment by gunmen to accept Islam and to marry Naveed Shah otherwise she would be killed along with her whole family.

However, the Girl gave statement in favor of her parents and requested the respectable judge that she wanted to live with her parents, but instead of obliging to the girl’s request, the judge Mr. Hassan Ali Kalwar postponed the hearing till next working day due to pressure of the local MNA Mian Mitho in the presence of his gunmen in the court, though this action seems to be taken in pressure of gunmen and against law, as the girl should have been handed over back to her parents as she wished judge placed her judicial custody instead of Darul Aman .

Next hearing was held on 27th Feb: 2012, till then victim girl Rinkle remained in judicial remand/police custody, where she was allegedly tortured, harassed, threatened to convert into Islam and to marry Naveed Shah. In next hearing, no one from family members of the victim girl or from Hindu community was allowed to enter the court jurisdictions by local police along with gunmen of MNA Mian Mitho. The Hindus protested against this injustice, but they were beaten up by policemen tear gas shelling outside the court.

The hearing was scheduled at 11:00 am, but under the influence of MNA and his gunmen, the court hearing took place at 8:15 am without presence of victim girl Rinkle’s family and any Hindu community member then immediately the respected judge Mr. Sami Ullah Qureshi gave verdict in favor of Naveed Shah. It is allegedly claimed that no statement was taken from victim girl & straight

away the decision was put forward in favor of Naveed Shah and MNA Mian Mitho at 8.45am while electronic media telecasted this news at 9 am. …

Pakistan minorities fear forced conversions to Islam

By Associated Press

LAHORE, PAKISTAN — It was barely 4 a.m. when 19-year-old Rinkal Kumari disappeared from her home in a small village in Pakistan’s southern Sindh province. When her parents awoke they found only her slippers and a scarf outside the door.

A few hours later her father got a call telling him his daughter, a Hindu, had converted to Islam to marry a Muslim boy.

Only days later, Seema Bibi, a Christian woman in the province of Punjab, was kidnapped along with her four children after her husband couldn’t repay a loan to a large landlord. Within hours, her husband was told his wife had converted to Islam and wouldn’t be coming home. Seema Bibi escaped, fled the village and has gone underground with her husband and children.

Using Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and Other Internet Tools, Pakistani Terrorist Group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi Incites Violence against Shi’ite Muslims and Engenders Anti-semitism

By Tufail Ahmad

Contrary to the popular perception and notwithstanding the Pakistani government’s ban, the militant religious group Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) runs a vibrant organization at the grassroots level in Pakistani towns, recruiting members, propagating its activities and holding regular organizational elections to elect its local leaders. The Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) – the military of SSP – too is active and runs a vibrant media campaign on the internet, using U.S.-based social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Archive.org and Scribd, a document-sharing website. Even a cursory review of its media campaign on the internet and in print media reveals that the LeJ/SSP duo is using various U.S.-based websites and webcasting tools to incite violence against Shi’ite Muslims, and in doing so it is also engendering Antisemitism to promote its ideological agenda.

The LeJ has figured in several recent attacks in Pakistan. On February 28, 2012, Islamic militants dressed in Pakistani military fatigues stopped a bus in Pakistan’s northern district of Kohistan, forced all the passengers off, and examined their Pakistani government-issued Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) to verify their faith by their surnames. Passengers whose names indicated that they were Sunni Muslims were let off, while 19 Shi’ite Muslims headed for their homes in Gilgit Baltistan and were shot dead by the militants.[1] The LeJ, a terrorist group feared for its long-standing campaign of violence against Shi’ite Muslims, was blamed for the attack. Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik ordered a probe, stating that the LeJ and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have been “involved in similar crimes [against Shi’ite Muslims] in the past.”[2]Responsibility for the attack was claimed by a militant who identified himself as a spokesman of Jundallah, a Sunni militant group which is indistinguishable from Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, both in terms of its ideological orientation against Shi’ite Muslims and in terms of the two groups’ cross-pollination. ….

By Aftab Channa

The participants of the Azadi March, organised by the nationalist party Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), also announced that they reject the Pakistan Resolution. …

How Religion’s Demand for Obedience Keeps Us in the Dark Ages

By Adam Lee

The most fervent advocates of religion in the modern world are also the most deeply inculcated with the mindset of command and obedience, which has dangerous consequences.

For the vast majority of human history, the only form of government was the few ruling over the many. As human societies became settled and stratified, tribal chiefs and conquering warlords rose to become kings, pharaohs and emperors, all ruling with absolute power and passing on their thrones to their children. To justify this obvious inequality and explain why they should reign over everyone else, most of these ancient rulers claimed that the gods had chosen them, and priesthoods and holy books obligingly came on the scene to promote and defend the theory of divine right.

Sindh before Pakistan

Before 1843, Sindh had, as a sovereign state, signed a treaty with the British Raj, allowing the latter’s ships to pass through the River Sindhu. The Raj, in return, had to pay taxes to the Sindh government. Karachi port and  the Indus River had thus served as an important route for the British army in their war in Afghanistan.

Bigotry at its Worst, Chauvinism at its Ugliest – Hindus and other minorities under serious threat

By Dr. Ahmed Makhdoom

Friday, 16th March, 2012, on the National Pages of Daily Dawn newspaper,’ a photograph was published with the news story: “Police Deny Arresting Convert.” The picture showed a downcast, depressed and dejected young man, Rajesh Kumar, who gave up his religion to marry a girl he loved, behind bars in one of the thousands unknown and uncharted prisons in this miserable country.

What a bigoted, chauvinistic and hypocrite this failed state, where the perverted Peers (religious leaders) and filthy Feudal Lords, celebrate when a young teen – a legally, morally and religiously minor and juvenile girl and still a mere child – Hindu girl, is forced and coerced, threatened and terrorized and savagely converted to Islam and, falsely and unnaturally, married off to a man, they, the idiots, scavengers, vultures of ignoble come out on streets and shout, “Allah-o-Akbar”.

Maududi’s Children : How the intellectuality of Political Islam turned into the brutality of faithful fascism: Nadeem F. Paracha

Maududi’s Children – by Nadeem F. Paracha

In Pakistan even the traditional Muslim practice of reasoning in matters of religion – originally introduced by the 9th century Mutazilites – is at times treated like some kind of an abomination to be feared, discouraged and repressed.

It is easy to accuse the proverbial mullah for this. And it is equally easy to blame him for being anti-intellectual and regressive.

Dania: Virginity Test

By Omar Ali

This is a very powerful poem.

This is in reference to the Egyptian army’s practice of subjecting female protesters to so-called “virginity tests”…basically a way to humiliate them and make sure they never dare to protest again.

I know nothing about the poetess. Anyone with more information?

Here is the translation (some people did not think to look in the see more tab on youtube): You couldn’t find the fear you sought in my eyes

Don’t tell the truth anymore, Taslima

If you tell the truth, people get angry, don’t tell the truth anymore, Taslima

This time is not the time of Gallelio.

This is twenty first century, but society would outcast you if you tell the truth,

Nations would force you to leave their land,

The State would put you in prison, Torture you,

Don’t tell the truth,  Instead, lie.

Say the sun is revolving around the earth,

Say the moon has its own light, like the sun.

Say the mountains are nailed to the earth, so that the earth does not fall off the empty space.

Claim the women are made out of the ribs of men,

Insist one neck-bone of women is crooked,

Vouch all men and women would suddenly wake up from their graves

and rise from the ashes in their youthful splendor,

And that from here, they would go to heaven or hell for eternity

Just lie Taslima.

Say stars, planets and satellites, universe and Gravity are thunderous lies. Also say, men never landed on moon. Simply lie.

If you lie, you would no more be in exile.

You would have a country of your own, you would get friends.

Will be free from your chains, you will see light and the sky.

Nobody will throw you inside the dark, inhuman, dungeon of death,

So never tell the truth, Taslima,
